In 2015, we successfully worked on a rigging operation on the world’s largest Offshore Overhead Gantry Crane.

The hoisting capacity of of this crane is 4,800mT (2 x 2,400mT). Our assignment was the coordination, planning and installation of 880 meter steel wire rope (50 mm).
Project Size:
- Installing under pre-tension (10T-15T) of hoisting wires on the crane’s winches using our 35T spooling machine and 40T tension winch
- Installing under pre-tension (10T-15T) of the hoisting wire ropes onto the drums of the winches
- Complete reeving of various crane blocks
- On-site socketing and final testing
The overall planning, coordination and operation was part of the responsibility of De Ruiter Staalkabel. This included complete Job Safety Analysis and Method Statement for the entire rigging operation. The operation was executed in The Netherlands and Poland using three of our rigging engineers. The complete rigging operation was executed in 9 days, ahead of schedule.
